The Lucky Cowboy - biography
Who is that crazy cowboy?
Lucky was born at a very young age in the "Land of Lincoln." Alton, Illinois, to be exact, is where old Lucky is from. Alton is famous for its celebrities of stage and screen. Remember Robert Wadlow, the tallest man in the world? How about TV star Clint Walker of "Cheyenne" and Butch Calvey the singer? Alton is also where one of the famous Lincoln/Douglas debates took place, and where Bluff City Beer was made. It seems Lucky was just destined to be a famous person.
In his early years, Lucky appeared at the Madison Avenue Corral in Alton as a live DJ for WOKZ radio. He's been a trapeze artist, a motorcycle stunt rider, and even hosted his own carnival. He was a National Indian Chief for the Boy Scouts of America and managed a scout camp. Lucky spent some time in Minnesota where he still has many country fans.
Nowadays, old Lucky is based in Nashville, TN, Music City USA. Here he founded Lucky Cowboy Productions. You might catch him anywhere in Nashville, or somewhere in the rest of the USA promoting country music. He's even been on the Today Show! But you'll always find him wearing his famous forty gallon orange cowboy hat - you can't miss him wherever he goes.
Lucky's favorite song is "I Feel Lucky." His handprints are on the WE Fest "Walk of Fame," and there's even a ceramic bobblehead doll of Lucky. Yep, you can bet old Lucky will continue to be a star in his own right.
Watch out for Lucky as you might just get "Lucky!" Yeeeeeeeeehaw!!!

TAYLOR SWIFT HAS A LUNCH DATE WITH MARK FOSTER IN BEVERLY HILLS WAS IT JUST A LUNCH DATE?
Taylor Swift lunches with Mark Foster seen in the background as they depart from the paparazzi May 17 in Beverly Hills.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA May 17, 2012 - Following relationships with Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal, it looks as if Taylor Swift may be ready to give romance another go. The country darling was spotted out on a lunch date with The People frontman Mark Foster at Caffe Roma in Beverly Hills on Thursday (May 17). PHOTO: Right Mark Foster Trying to keep their day of togetherness out of the spotlight, Mark quickly parted from Taylor as the paparazzi arrived on the scene at the Italian eatery and began taking photos.
Mark Foster (born 1984) is with 'Foster the People' an American indie pop band he formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. Foster moved from Cleveland to Los Angeles California to pursue a music career and founded the group. The group is nominated for four Billboard 2012 Awards: Top New Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album and Top Alternative Artist.
The lunch outing comes just as it was announced that Miss Swift is donating $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The donation made by the country cutie marks the largest grant given to the museum by an artist, and the money is said to help fund an exhibit and classroom space dubbed as the "Taylor Swift Education Center" - which is expected to open in 2014.
Of the sizable gift, museum director, Kyle Young, said, “It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who’s in touch with a young audience?”
Donna Summer 1948–2012 "I can't believe we've lost another wonderful singer. Donna, like Whitney, had one of the greatest voices ever. I loved her records. She was the disco queen, and will remain so. I knew her and found her to be one of the most likable and fun people ever. She will be missed and remembered." - Dolly Parton NASHVILLE, TENN May 17, 2012 - Singer Donna Summer has died at the age of 63 following a battle with lung cancer. A source revealed to TMZ that the five-time Grammy winner believed her illness was caused by inhaling toxic particles spread as a result of the 9/11 attack in New York City.
Summer reportedly wanted to keep her illness a secret from the public as she attempted to finish an album. The “Queen of Disco” found fame in the 1970s with mega-hits like “Last Dance” and “Hot Stuff.”
Summer, whose career continued well into the 1980s and 1990s with songs like ”She Works Hard for the Money” and “This Time I Know It’s for Real,” was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard chart.
In a statement to the Associated Press, her family says they ”are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.” The singer is survived by her husband, singer Bruce Sudano, their two daughters and four grandchildren.
TAYLOR SWIFT DONATES $4 MILLION TO COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME The Gift Will Fund the 'Taylor Swift Education Center', to Open in 2014
NASHVILLE, TENN May 17, 2012 - Taylor Swift has taught a generation of kids to appreciate country music over the last five years. Now, she's donating $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to make sure that education continues. The gift is the largest given to the museum by an artist and is the second largest from an individual, officials said. It will fund the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom space scheduled to open in 2014.
"In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now," museum director Kyle Young said. "It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs and I'm happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who's in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking."
The new education center is part of the museum's $75 million "Working on a Building" expansion project that will increase the space more than 200,000 square feet to 350,000. The expansion is part of the new convention center project in downtown Nashville and will include a new concert theater, more room for exhibits and archives, and a shared entrance with a new hotel.
Swift's education center will have its own exterior entrance and is 7,500 square feet-plus spread over two stories. It will include three classrooms and exhibit space and will allow the museum to add to its youth education programs. The new space will house interactive activities such as a musical petting zoo and a "wet" classroom space to make concert posters and other art projects. The expansion also would allow the museum to start new programs and workshops and for teens and senior citizens as well as continuing workshops.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter is country music's top-selling artist and current ambassador to the world. The six-time Grammy winner is a two-time winner of both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music entertainer of the year awards and has taken the genre to Asia, Europe and Australia as well as the top of the U.S. pop charts.
She has a long history with the museum. One of her first public performances was on the building's plaza. She signed her record contract there. And she has donated her time to the museum's "All For The Hall" fundraisers. "For Taylor to want to engage herself in the life of this place in such an appropriate way ... every way you slice it and dice it, it's great for this place," Young said.

JUSTIN MOORE'S BAND TOUR BUS INVOLVED IN FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR CHICAGO SATURDAY
NASHVILLE, TENN May 13, 2012 - Country stars have been dealing with accidents or acts of God involving their tour buses lately. A few days after singer Bucky Covington dealt with a crash, Justin Moore‘s crew had an incident with their bus early Saturday morning in Illinois south of Chicago. PHOTO RIGHT: Bucky Covington's tour bus after crash earlier this week. Moore issued a tweet earlier today (May 12), revealing the details. He posted: “Thankful my band and crew guys are all good. They got hit by a car this morning in their bus. Prayers go out to the guy who lost his life.” The singer issued a second contemplative and poingnant tweet immediately after, posting: “And his family. You never know man. You have to be prepared to meet God today, cause it may be your last.”
This accident is the latest in a series of tour-related accidents this year. Lee Brice’s bus caught fire in January, Matt Stillwell’s bus was destroyed by a tornado, Jerrod Niemann’s bus caught fire a few months ago and Justin Moore’s bus caught fire in February.
MATTOON, ILL — A Chicago man died early Saturday from injuries he received after being hit by a car as he stood outside his vehicle on Interstate 57. Illinois State Police at Pesotum said Joseph Taylor, 48, was standing outside the car he'd been in because its driver, Tiffany Taylor, 25, of Chicago, had sideswiped a southbound tour bus about 5:45 a.m. The tour bus was Justin Moore's Nashville signer band.
About 6:07 a.m., a southbound Chevrolet Suburban avoided the crash by driving on to the right shoulder, but a second Toyota Camry hit the Suburban then T-boned the already disabled Camry. The impact of that collision caused the disabled Camry to hit Mr. Taylor.
Tiffany Taylor was ticketed for improper lane usage for the encounter with the tour bus. In that accident, Taylor was in the driving lane and the tour bus was in the passing lane of southbound I-57. Police said Taylor sideswiped the tour bus then veered off to the west shoulder. As she tried to regain control of the car, she sideswiped the bus a second time. The car then hit the guardrail and came to rest. That's when Joseph Taylor and Key got out. Neither the driver of the tour bus, Bennie Rice, 48, of Woodbury, Tenn., nor any of his nine passengers, from the Nashville area, were injured.

LORETTA LYNN HEADED TO BROADWAY!
Zooey Deschanel, Loretta Lynn announce Broadway production of ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’
Loretta Lynn fans got much more than they bargained for during her performance at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium Thursday night. The country legend revealed plans for a Broadway musical adaptation of her life story, Coal Miner’s Daughter, and brought out the production’s future star — film/TV actress and musician Zooey Deschanel — to sing its title song with her onstage.
Wearing one of her signature long-sleeve, floor-length dresses, Lynn introduced Deschanel to the Opry crowd. “I have a friend here tonight,” Lynn, told the crowd. “I don’t know if y’all remember when Sissy Spacek was with me. I brought her out on stage, and she about fainted. We both fainted ... There’s a little girl backstage that’s going to do the play of Coal Miner’s Daughter, and I can think she can sing her…” she paused. “...self to death! (laughs), I didn’t say it! But she’s great.”
“This is a great honor for me,” Deschanel said, as younger members of the Opry audience rushed up front to take photos. “This is my hero.” The pair traded off verses on “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and stood side by side as they sang its final chorus together.
“Coal Miner’s Daughter” was a No. 1 hit for Lynn in 1970 that she wrote about growing up as one of eight children in rural Kentucky. It became the title of her 1976 autobiography and the basis for the 1980 movie, starring Sissy Spacek, which traces Lynn’s rise from humble beginnings into one of country music’s most beloved singers. In 1972, Lynn became the first woman to be named Entertainer of the Year by the Country Music Association.

GEORGE "GOOBER PYLE" LINDSEY HAS DIED AT 83 - 1928-2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn. May 7, 2012 — George Lindsey, who made a TV career as a grinning service station attendant named Goober on "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Hee Haw," has died. He was 83. Lindsey was the beanie-wearing Goober on "The Andy Griffith Show" from 1964 to 1968 and its successor, "Mayberry RFD," from 1968 to 1971. He played the same jovial character on "Hee Haw" from 1971 until it went out of production in 1993."America has grown up with me," Lindsey said in an Associated Press interview in 1985. "Goober is every man; everyone finds something to like about ol' Goober."
As Goober, Lindsey wore a brown felt beanie with turned-up scalloped edges and had a tire gauge, pens and pencils stuffed into the pocket of his work shirt and a rag hanging out of the back pocket of his high-wasted pants.
"I had a lot of trouble with that part," he said in a 2005 interview with Alabama's Montgomery Advertiser newspaper. "I'd been playing a lot of heavy character roles. I'd done them on 'Alfred Hitchcock,' and 'Twilight Zone' and some others, and at first I found myself just doing an impersonation of Jim Nabors doing Gomer. I finally said, 'Look, tell me about this guy and who he is.' "
Lindsey often recalled that Griffith told him, "Goober's the kind of guy that would go into a restaurant and say, 'This is great salt.' "
"Andy Griffith turned out to be the greatest teacher I've ever had," Lindsey, an Alabama native, told The Times in 1968. "He kept tellin' me to play myself, to let it happen to me, instead of trying to be funny."

GET READY NASHVILLE, HERE COMES AMERICAN IDOL'S SKYLAR LAINE 18-year-old Skylar Laine said goodbye on “American Idol” on Thursday evening’s results show. The Mississippi native isn’t letting her fifth place finish crush her dreams. Her personal idol, reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Miranda Lambert, didn’t win “Nashville Star” in 2003 and look at her now.
“That is a comfort,” Skylar tells the USA Today. “And Kellie Pickler didn’t win ‘American Idol.’ And look where they are. I want to follow in their footsteps.” The first step Skylar plans to take is making the move to Music City. “That’s where I want to be,” she says. “I love Nashville. Mississippi’s my home, but Nashville’s second home, definitely.”
She has been to Nashville quite a few times in recent years. Prior to ‘Idol,’ Skylar visited to record a few demos and do some songwriting. She has also previously attended one of country music’s biggest events, the CMA Music Festival. ”I came one year as a fan. Now, maybe, I’ll be there as an artist,” she says in hopes to attend the festival next month.
When it comes to her music, fans can expect the young singer to release ”a really country album.” “I don’t want to be pop at all,” she explains. “I want steel guitar, honky-tonk songs, real country music. What it really is. Talkin’ about guns and all that kind of stuff.”
Since being on Idol, the aspiring country star has had the chance to interact with a few of country music’s finest including Carrie Underwood and Justin Moore. Skylar had a chance to chat with Underwood, who performed on American Idol the night she was eliminated. “She just told us all to be ourselves. I would love to get to talk to her about her whole career, how she’s done. I love her as an artist. She’s very sweet. She’s an inspiration, too.”

JEWEL WILL PORTRAY JUNE CARTER CASH IN TV MOVIE Jewel will play the title role in The June Carter Cash Story, a made-for-television movie that will air on the Lifetime network later this year. The movie will start filming in Atlanta in early summer with director Allison Anders. The project is based on Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash, a book written by John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, who both died in 2003. The couple's hit duets include "Jackson" and "If I Were a Carpenter."
GLEE TIME FOR TAYLOR SWIFT This was inevitable, right? Putting a Taylor Swift song on Glee? And because Glee has all the drama of a real high school -- and then some -- it makes sense that they would choose a Swift song with a message. So, according to E! -- who got the scoop from Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy -- Swift's "Mean" will get the New Directions treatment in a couple of weeks. But, ironically, in this upcoming episode, it will not be about the way-too-rampant teenage bullying. Rather, it is going to be a duet between the McKinley High football coach Shannon Beiste and bad-boy senior Noah "Puck" Puckerman (played by Mark Salling). "I do not proclaim to be any kind of singer," Dot Marie Jones (Beiste) said. The story is that Beiste was being abused by her new husband, Cooter Menkins. So maybe this is her way of telling him that all he's ever gonna be is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life and mean. If the episode gives even one real-life battered wife the guts to tell her husband that she's not going to take it anymore, then the world will be a much nicer place.

ERIC CHURCH STIRS UP BLAKE SHELTON, MIRANDA LAMBERT AND SOME FANS OVER HIS COMMENTS Eric Church apologizes for 'Rolling Stone' comments Eric Church‘s recently released Rolling Stone interview caused quite the buzz on the internet earlier thursday. Church took a stab at reality singing competitions saying, “It’s become ‘American Idol’ gone mad. Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green f—ing turn around in a red chair, you get a deal? That’s crazy. I don’t know what would make an artist do that. You’re not an artist.”
He went on to say he would never make the “mistake” of being a judge on a singing competition. “If I was concerned about my legacy, there’s no f—ing way I would ever sit there [and be a reality-show judge],” Church told the magazine. “Once your career becomes something other than the music, then that’s what it is. I’ll never make that mistake. I don’t care if I f—ing starve.”
Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert sounded off on Twitter after reading Church’s comments. Blake simply tweeted, “I wish I misunderstood this,” while Miranda said, “Thanks Eric Church for saying I’m not a real artist. Or @kelly_clarkson, @carrieunderwood & @KeithUrban. Your welcome for the tour in 2010.”
Church released a statement this evening to clarify the comments in the Rolling Stone interview saying he didn’t mean for them “to undermine their talent and achievements.” He went on to say that the comments are “part of a larger commentary on these types of reality shows and the perception they create, not the artists involved with the shows themselves.” As for his stance on shows such as “The Voice” and “American Idol,” Church says he feels like they give artists an easy way around putting in the hard work and dedication it takes to make a successful music career.
“Every artist has to follow up television appearances with dedication towards their craft, but these shows tend to gloss over that part and make it seem like you can be ordained into stardom,” says Eric. “I have a problem with those perceived shortcuts, not just in the music industry.” He also responded to his former tourmate’s tweet. “I have a lot of respect for what artists like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and my friend Miranda Lambert have gone on to accomplish,” he said in response to Lambert. “This piece was never intended to tear down any individual and I apologize to anybody I offended in trying to shed light on this issue. “

LEE BRICE IS ALL OVER THE RADIO 'A WOMAN LIKE YOU' - SOPHOMORE ALBUM RELEASE Lee Brice’s sophomore album, Hard 2 Love, his shelves today but it has a very misleading title, as this album is anything but hard to love. The native of South Carolina definitely made an album with country music rooted at the heart of it, but it’s not twang and fiddles, it’s filled with southern rock and piano and an acoustic guitar. Many of the songs on the album are co-written by Brice and that comes as no surprise as he has definitely made his mark in Nashville as a quality songwriter. That ability, paired with his soul-filled voice, is what makes this album so great (his boyish good looks, and that smile, don’t hurt either).
Brice is most well-known for his ballads and he doesn’t disappoint on this album. The album’s lead single, ‘A Woman Like You,’ became his first No.1 single as an artist earlier this month. Heartwarming lyrics about trading in bachelorhood for the love of his life paired with an acoustic melody are ballad gold in country music. “See About A Girl” is a groovy tune with drawn out lyrics and a piano based melody. Brice co-wrote the song with Phillip Lamonds and Kyle Jacobs, and draws upon both females and males, as they weave the story of a man who is out having a night with the boys but stresses the importance of his girlfriend at home. “I know the beers here are cold/but I got something warm waiting for me at home,” he sings with a conviction that is convincing. It’s obvious that Brice also knows that love doesn’t come easy for everyone as he sings about a troubled relationship on “That Way Again.” “Girls, if your guy’s not appreciating you or giving you the things you need, you need to tell him. Maybe he’s oblivious or maybe he just doesn’t care. But either way, you’ve got to let him know,” he says. This song has a simple melody but its Brice’s passionate, soulful voice that really makes this song shine. He has an uncanny ability to really make a listener feel what he feels.
KEITH URBAN INDUCTED INO THE GRAND OLE OPRY
NASHVILLE April 22, 2012 - The first time Keith Urban heard one of his solo songs on American radio, he was at a gas station across the street from the Grand Ole Opry. He’d stopped to fill up in route to downtown Nashville when “It’s A Love Thing” came across the airwaves. Saturday night, things came full circle as he was across the street from that same station, being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. Vince Gill surprised Keith with an invitation to join the Opry during their We’re All For The Hall benefit concert on April 10.
Keith was officially inducted into the Opry family by General Manager Pete Fisher and fellow Opry Members Trace Adkins and Josh Turner. “This is a huge honor for me tonight,” Trace said as he passed Keith the microphone trophy containing a part of the original Ryman Auditorium stage that signifies membership. “I get to say ‘Keith, you are now a member of the Grand Ole Opry.’”

TAYLOR SWIFT TUNING UP FOR JONI MITCHELL BIOPIC?
Taylor Swift is feeling Blue—in a good way.
After losing out on the role of Eponine in a movie version of the Broadway musical Les Misérables, the singer-songwriter is in talks to play Joni Mitchell in a biopic about the legendary Canadian songstress. According to Variety , an offer has not yet been made to Swift, but she ranks high up on Sony Pictures' and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura 's wish list, especially considering the 22-year-old country pop princess has the musical chops—not to mention six Grammy Awards under her belt, two shy of Mitchell's eight—for the part.
The flick will be based on Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us, which is being adapted by filmmaker John Sayles and chronicles the careers of the Blue singer and fellow crooners Carly Simon and Carole King. Other actresses have been auditioning for the latter parts in recent months, among them Alison Pill, who played Zelda Fitzgerald in Woody Allen 's Midnight in Paris.
Once the three leads are locked in, the film is expected to start shooting by year's end under the direction of House executive producer Katie Jacobs.
Swift made her feature acting debut in 2010's Valentine's Day and had a voice role in last month's computer-animated hit The Lorax. Her song "Eyes Open" is also featured on the Hunger Games soundtrack.

KENNY CHESNEY REVEALS NEW ALBUM "WELCOME TO THE FISHBOWL" Kenny Chesney is set to release his highly anticipated 13th studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, on June 19. The superstar revealed the new album title and artwork to “USA Today.” Chesney says the unique title spawned from a conversation he had at a beach bar called The Red Bar in Grayton Beach, Florida. He was with some of his football-playing friends when the idea came to him. “We walked in, and it was packed,” Chesney recalls (quote via “USA Today”). “There was about 20 minutes of people coming up, saying hello, wanting to get something signed. “After that died down, one of those guys said, ‘I didn’t realize your life was like this.’ I said, ‘Hey, man, welcome to the fishbowl.’ As soon as I said it, I realized that I was going to write a song about how our world and our culture is shrinking.”
The title track isn’t necessarily about being a celebrity and dealing with the pressures of fame though. “In fact, at the end of the song I speak to celebrities and say, ‘You asked for this,’ ” Chesney says. “But you don’t have to be in the public eye for your business to be everybody’s business. And that’s just the way it is.”
As for the rest of the songs on Welcome to the Fishbowl, Chesney says fans can expect great songs as well as songs that will continue to fill football stadiums. “I think that’s what I’m enjoying about this part in my career,” he says, “and the new album’s going to show that even more. Not a lot of artists, especially if they’re as mainstream as me, have that freedom.”
On June 2, Chesney will embark on one of this summer’s hottest concert tours, the “Brothers of the Sun” Tour, alongside his good buddy Tim McGraw.
